A 24-year-old man was shot outside of a convenience store in Soundview just before 12 p.m. Monday.

Police say the victim was shot once in the right hip and was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. He is expected to survive.

Two men were seen fleeing the area in ski masks on a motorized scooter. Police are still not able to confirm if this was a targeted incident.

Part of Lafayette Avenue was blocked off where the incident took place. Community members were concerned about the shooting taking place in the middle of the day.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
