Heavy police and fire department presence was on the beach at Coney Island on Friday night.

Emergency rescue crews were spotted in the water by News 12 and helicopters were seen flying overhead. Those crews pulled what appeared to be one body from the water.

At this hour there is no identity for anyone missing and police say there may be multiple missing swimmers at this time.

City officials remind New Yorkers to avoid swimming when lifeguards are off duty.
