Police are asking for the public's help tracking down a man who tackled, pummeled and robbed a 65-year-old man in Parkchester last week.

Surveillance video shows the victim walking down the street as another man, wearing long sleeves, baggy jeans and a do-rag, gets in his face and snatches his keys. 

After a scuffle, the 65-year-old victim wound up hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center with spinal injuries.

When the victim tried to get them back, he wound up slammed down to the sidewalk for his efforts. The assailant climbed on top and punched his victim until he lost consciousness.

It happened on Hugh Grant Circle near Metropolitan Avenue around 7 p.m. on May 26.

Surveillance video shows much of the assault. Police say the attacker tried to steal the victim's bag before taking off down the street.
