New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying an ATV rider who struck a New Jersey state trooper in Buena Vista Township last month.

Police say the incident happened on Jan. 17 around 5 p.m. They say the trooper was called to a trespassing complaint in a wooded area near West Colton Avenue when he encountered a group of people riding on ATVs and dirt bikes on Jackson Road.

Police say that when the troopers tried to speak with one of the ATV riders, the rider tried to take off and struck the trooper’s arm and leg. The rider escaped on the ATV into a wooded area.

The suspect was described as a male operating an orange CFMOTO CFORCE ATV.

Anyone who might have information about the incident is asked to call Troop “A” Buena Vista Station at 609-561-1800. Anonymous tips are welcome, according to police.
