Police sergeant accused of throwing cooler, killing man in the Bronx due back in court

The police sergeant accused of killing a man when he threw a cooler at him last August is due back in court today.
Supporters of the man who died are holding a rally to call for justice.
Sgt. Erik Duran is scheduled to appear today in front of a judge. Duran is the officer accused of killing Eric Duprey. Medical examiners say Duprey died from the impact of crashing his motorized scooter after Duran threw a cooler at him.
Members of Black Lives Matter say they want Duran to be held accountable.
Back in January, Attorney General Letitia James officially indicted Duran. He was charged with manslaughter, assault and criminally negligent homicide for Duprey's death.
Surveillance cameras caught the entire incident in Kingsbridge Heights. Duran is dressed in plainclothes and throws the cooler at Duprey. Police say he was trying to escape the scene of a drug bust when it all happened.
The last time Duran went before a judge, he pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and his lawyer claimed his actions were justifiable claiming it was the only way to stop Duprey.
