An NYPD officer was arrested Friday and accused of taking part in an active crack-cocaine and heroin organization.
Investigators charged 40-year-old Detective James Calderon with criminal possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy. Calderon worked at the Bronx Courthouse and was a 13-year veteran of the force.
According to the indictment, Calderon transported shipments of cocaine from New York to drug traffickers in Virginia.
The charges come after a two-year investigation into a Bronx-based drug organization. Authorities said they seized cocaine, heroin, drug paraphernalia and $4,000 in a raid Friday. They also arrested at least two other individuals.
Calderon could face up to 20 years in prison for the possession charge and eight to 25 on the conspiracy charge, if convicted.
