Suffolk County police arrested Detrich Emanuel for the fatal shooting of Kristine Constantino of Middle Island on New Year's Eve.
Police say the 40-year-old victim was shot in the chest at close range inside her Artist Lake Drive home.
Emanuel was arrested in the Bronx on Saturday and arraigned in Central Islip court Monday on a second-degree murder charge in connection to the fatal shooting.
Police say the 30-year-old has 18 prior offenses, including a violent felony.
He is being held without bail. At this time, police are not saying if the suspect and the victim knew each other. Emanuel is due back on court on January 19.
