Police: Suspect hides under train after attacking MTA employee with hammer

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker was attacked with a hammer early this morning in Chelsea, police say.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker was attacked with a hammer early this morning in Chelsea, police say.
According to the NYPD, the incident took place at the 8th Avenue subway station just before 2 a.m. The suspect got into an MTA facility room where the 51-year-old employee was stationed.
Police say there was some kind of confrontation and that's when the suspect pulled out the hammer or some type of tool and hit the employee in the head.
The suspect was later pulled from under the train where he was hiding and taken in for a psych evaluation. The victim is recovering at the hospital.
