Death of West Farms man ruled a homicide by medical examiner
5ds agoA teen is dead after being shot at Starlight Park. According to police sources, it all started with a water gun fight that then escalated.
Sources say the victim was engaging in the water gun fight then got angry. He went to go confront the person who sprayed him and then he was shot. The victim was identified as 17-year-old Darrel Harris. Police say he was shot in the head and right arm at around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. He was rushed to NYC Health & Hospitals Jacobi where he later died from his wounds.
As of April, shooting victims under the age of 18 have gone up 133% since 2018, according to the NYPD.
As of right now, police say they have no one in custody and this investigation remains ongoing.
