Police say a 32-year-old woman is dead after gunfire erupted at a vigil Monday night.
Officers say two men got out of a light-colored sedan and started shooting at the corner of Park Place and Howard Avenue around 11 p.m.
Police say when they arrived at the scene, they found Shalimar Birkett, of Queens, in the street with a gunshot wound to her head. They say Birkett was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities say it’s not clear if she was the intended target.
Birkett was attending a vigil for 31-year-old Miles Bobbsemple, who police say was brought to the hospital after 12 a.m. Monday.
Investigators say Bobbsemple had a gunshot wound to his chest and died a short time later.
No arrests have been made in either shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
