A woman was fatally stabbed early Sunday in Kingsbridge Heights, police say.
News 12 is told that officers responded to a 911 call just after 1:30 a.m. outside of 25-75 Jerome Ave. When they arrived, they found an unconscious woman inside the third floor hallway of an apartment building with an apparent stab wound to her chest.
Emergency workers took the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A source at the scene tells News 12 they believe the woman may have been stabbed outside on the sidewalk before running into the building to get away from the attacker.
Officials have not released the victim's identity yet, but say she was between 25 and 35 years old.
No arrests have been made and police don't have any suspects.
