Police: Woman injured in boxcutter attack in Tremont

Police say a group of women assaulted the 39-year-old victim on East 175th Street and Arthur Avenue.

A woman is recovering in a hospital after she was attacked late Friday night with a boxcutter in Tremont.

Police say a group of women assaulted the 39-year-old victim on East 175th Street and Arthur Avenue.

While the group was hitting the woman in the arms, head and back, police say one individual took out a boxcutter and then stabbed her in the torso.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and is expected to be OK, according to authorities.

Police say there is an ongoing investigation into what led up to the assault.

Two of the women involved in the incident have been arrested, according to police. Their charges are currently pending.
