Police say a woman’s torso was found inside a bag that was in a shopping cart in the Broadway Junction section of Brooklyn Thursday.

Authorities say a man who was walking to a friend's house passed the shopping cart on Atlantic Avenue near Fulton Street. They say he looked inside and found the female torso in a bag without the head or the limbs.

Investigators searched the scene for evidence both outside and inside nearby buildings.

News 12 was told a nearby store had surveillance cameras facing the crime scene and turned the footage in to police.

The medical examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death.
