A woman was sexually assaulted in her apartment  building earlier this month, according to police.

Police say a 36-year-old woman was checking her mail when a man came into the mailroom of the apartment building, and snuck up behind her. The man then pushed the victim against the floor and started to grope her, police say.

The incident happened Oct. 11 around 9 p.m. near Tiebout Avenue and East 184th Street.

The victim struggled to get away, but before she could, police say the suspect fled, running through the victim’s parking garage, to 184th Street.

Officials say the victim suffered a minor injury on her hand, but refused medical attention on scene.
