Tuesday is primary day in New York.
Election officials say about 2,000 more people in Westchester cast early ballots ahead of Tuesday's primary election compared to the first primary earlier this summer in June.
In total, the Westchester Board of Elections received nearly 13,000 ballots during early voting. Westchester saw a higher early voter turnout than most of the five boroughs and both counties on Long Island outside of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says it is a positive sign more people are engaging in the political process.
"Westchester can be very proud of the numbers that they've achieved and now we have the day of voting. We have numbers that will come in from early voting, from the day of voting, and absentee ballots," says Latimer.
Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.
