Police say a 36-year-old postal worker attacked a 13-year-old girl in Bed-Stuy. That teenage girl’s mother is now calling for justice to be served.
Tamara Gonzalez’s daughter was assaulted last week by an adult woman who she says is the mother of her daughter’s former friend. Gonzalez showed News 12 video of her daughter and others running away after the assault took place.
“She told me she was punched in the face and dragged by the hair,” said Gonzalez. “My daughter sustained a mild concussion. She had bruises to her knees, her lower rib cage.”
Giselle Jones was arrested for assault outside of a Brooklyn post office where she works, according to the United States Postal Service. Gonzalez says she was in uniform at the time of the assault.
Police say Jones got involved in a physical altercation between the daughters of Jones and Gonzalez, punching Gonzalez’s daughter in the face before throwing her to the ground.
Gonzalez says she thinks this all took place over some school-related issue between the two girls, and that she reached out to Jones to help the girls resolve their issues to no avail.
“I just want to add to the parents, we got to start working together,” said Gonzalez. “We can’t keep on with this negative mentality of hurt, hurt, hurt each other. We have to look out for the kids in our community.”
