A prayer vigil was held Tuesday night in honor of a Brownsville advocate who was injured in a shooting.
Police say Taronn Sloan was shot in the chest at the Tilden Houses around 1 a.m.
The New York City gun czar says it appeared to be a random incident.
Sloan, known in the community as “Tree,” is a member of the anti-gun violence group Brownsville In, Violence Out.
News 12’s Faith Graham was at Brookdale Hospital where loved ones prayed for Sloan’s recovery.
