Live music is available at Prospect Park every night, bringing entertainment to residents while also helping local musicians, in this week’s Road Trip: Close to Home.
Live music is something that is hard to come by these days with bars and clubs closed.
Alegba Jahyile was strumming his guitar near the Boathouse in Prospect Park months ago when he caught the attention of a woman who started crying.
“She was like, ‘no can you please keep playing, because you provide me life, a week ago I lost three of my relatives,’” says Jahyile.
That's when he got together his band called Alegba and Friends to play every evening in the same spot.
"We definitely have [a] base of some regulars who come out here, they don’t come out every night so it's never too crowded,” says bandmember Mark Kraszwski.
The band says they have a variety of songs for a wide audience.
Andrew Brockman was just passing by one evening when he says he heard the sweet sounds.
“It was just music to my ears, you know no pun intended. It was delightful. You know I think it had been three months since I heard live music, so I was in heaven,” says Brockman.
The band says they have no intention of stopping any time soon.
