Protesters denounce Bruckner Rezoning Plan before full City Council vote
Throgs Neck residents gathered Saturday outside of
Councilwoman Marjorie Velazquez’s Bronx office to protest the Bruckner Rezoning
Plan, which was passed this week.
The plan will allow an eight-story building to
be built on top of a local supermarket. The building will provide 349
affordable housing units.
Protest attendees have concerns that the building will raise
the density of the neighborhood.
Councilwoman Velazquez released a statement saying the
project would bring housing and job benefits to the community.
The New York City Council will vote on the plan on Oct. 12.
