City Island residents and others joined together to protest police brutality and racism at Bridge Park Saturday.
Organizers say they will take a knee and have a moment of silence for George Floyd and all victims of police violence and racism.

They also say that their 8 minutes and 46 seconds of peaceful protest represents the amount of time a Minneapolis police officer knelt on Floyd's neck while he was handcuffed.
One organizer says it is not about bad officers, but about policing and the way it is done. They are calling for defunding of the NYPD to invest more resources into the community.
