240ds agoA series of protests are planned at several Suffolk hospitals against vaccine mandates for health care workers.
The first one took place at Stony Brook University Hospital Wednesday. Close to 300 people, including health care workers, made their voices heard at the rally.
Protesters chanted, "Stop the mandate, we do not consent."
The group, New Yorkers Against Medical Mandates, stood in support with health care workers who are against the vaccine mandate.
"Nobody is saying COVID isn't real. Nobody's here saying someone shouldn't get vaccinated if they want to. We are for choice," says registered nurse Donna Alipert.

Jessica Franco, an X-ray aide at Stony Brook University Hospital, says she doesn't like being told that she will lose her job if she doesn't get vaccinated.
On Thursday, demonstrators will gather at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore. Good Samaritan in West Islip will see a protest Friday.
The state says all health care workers, including staff at hospitals, nursing homes, adult care facilities and other congregate care settings, must get at least one dose of the vaccine by Sept. 27.
Stony Brook officials say they are awaiting further guidance as to how compliance will be enforced.
