A Mott Haven School is giving kids a chance to see life through a new lens.
Kids and faculty at P.S. 81 celebrated the opening of their vision center Tuesday, a partnership with the United Teachers Federation and Montefiore's School Health Program.
The clinic was made possible in part by funding from the Bronx borough president's office.
The center serves all elementary students, regardless of their ability to pay. Montefiore's School Health Program serves 40,000 kids in the Bronx with 30 clinics throughout the borough -- but vision care is a new addition.
Officials say vision services are important for academic performance and engagement in the classroom.
