An autism awareness group held its first event on Saturday in Castle Hill.
Puzzle Life Voice along with parents, their children and auxiliary police officers came together at Stephenson High School to support those with autism.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that one in every 44 children will be diagnosed with autism, but that ratio has shrunk over the last several years.
Kyle McLean, who founded Puzzle Life Voice with his wife, told News 12 that he wants to knock the stigma out of autism. He admitted autism hits close to home for him, as his child was diagnosed with autism at a young age.
"All of them are uniquely, beautifully different in their own form and way," said McLean.
Puzzle Life Voice said they’re already planning its next event, a fashion show featuring local children with autism which will be July 17 at the Castle Hill YMCA.
