News 12's Elly Morillo shows us how a rage room in Mott Haven is helping New Yorkers relieve some stress and shares how the idea started.
"To explore negative emotions, whether it's anxiety, trauma, grief, I think is very important to have this, especially in the Bronx and other communities just like us," says co-owner of Raze Up Laquawn Lynch.
It's an idea co-owner Mathew Newcombe says started during the pandemic and has flourished years later.
"Everybody was stressed. Everybody needed an outlet," says Newcombe. "Instead of it being amusement, we can really refocus this as something for the community that can help people relieve stress."
The rage room offers individual and group packages. So, once you've been briefed on safety and sign the waiver, it's go time.
"A lot of people, they come in here and they put a lot of work into breaking things down. So when they come out, they're exhausted, but there's a smile on their face," says Newcombe.
Lynch says there is so much more in store for Raze Up adding, "I don't think you've seen nothing yet. Wait until the car smashing is in full effect!"
