"If hiking is your thing or birdwatching or just sitting quietly in nature, we have a place for you," says Christina Taylor, the deputy director of Van Cortlandt Park Alliance. "We have over 20 miles of hiking trails in the park."
Over 1,000 acres, the park is home to historical burial grounds, hidden trails and the Van Cortlandt House Museum, which is one of the oldest buildings still standing in the Bronx.
Taylor says the park itself is full of so much for families to enjoy, especially as the weather gets warmer to enjoy the playgrounds and sporting fields.
Visitors can even catch a film at the park this summer.
"People can bring blankets or chairs if they want to. And before the movie starts, we have a DJ that will be playing music from the same year the movie was released. So all of the movies are from different eras, so each week will be different," Taylor explains.
So if you're ready for adventure, you may want to add the Bronx park to your list.
