? A Bronx corrections officer is being credited with saving a toddler from a fifth-floor fire escape.
Police say the child?s mother was asleep inside her apartment at 835 Walton Avenue when the child got out alone onto the fire escape. A passerby saw the toddler and ran into the nearby courthouse. Corrections Officer Hugh Carrington came to the rescue and scaled the side of the brick building to the fire ladder.
The Administration for Children?s Services is looking into the incident. The mother, Johanna Ramirez, is under arrest for reckless endangerment.
