Grab your popcorn! A new movie theater is opening this week in Concourse Plaza.
Regal Concourse is replacing the beloved Multiplex Cinema that announced its closure last April.
The theater will be holding charity screenings with $3 movie tickets, $3 popcorn and $3 soft drinks on March 19 and March 20. All proceeds will go toward the Police Athletic League and Turn 2 Foundation.
The grand opening will be Friday, March 21. "Snow White" and "The Alto Nights" will be showing throughout the day. During the opening weekend, loyalty members can get free popcorn with their ticket.
The Regal Concourse will have recliner seats in all 10 theaters, as well as surround sound.
The opening is welcomed news for the community after the longtime Multiplex Cinemas closed last year, leaving just one remaining theater open in the borough.
Community members and elected officials voiced their opinions on the importance of having another theater taking its place.
"For it to be shut down, I was kinda sad, but to see it back soon, I could smell the popcorn, I was like oh! The movie theater is back," said Mickey, who is from the Bronx.
