Tour de Bronx, the biggest cycling event in the Bronx, is returning this weekend.
Organizers made the announcement Tuesday morning at Lou Gehrig Plaza saying the event returns Sunday, Oct. 22. They say 800 people signed up on the first day of registration and over 3,000 people have registered so far. Bikers of all ages are welcome to participate in one of the three routes, which all start from 161st Street and the Grand Concourse. Riders can choose to follow a 10-mile family route, the 25-mile route or the 40-mile route.
"I live in the Bronx so this is my hometown this is my route, so I love the fact that I get to ride in the Bronx and expose other people to different places in the Bronx that I love riding in," said Shelly Wilson from local organization Black Girls Do Bike NYC.
The Bronx Community Foundation partnered with the Bronx Tourism Council for this bike tour, and they say they're expecting over 4,000 riders this year.
