A Montefiore Medical Group facility in Co-op City is moving, to the dismay of some of its patients.
Montefiore's Dreiser Loop primary care facility will only be moving about 10 minutes away by car in January to 2100 Bartow Ave. in Bay Plaza. But what seems like a short distance to some could take a toll on others.
"I'm in a scooter ... I can't really afford the taxi cab fare, and it was convenient for me," says Tom Forti.
In a written statement, a Montefiore spokesperson says, "In this central location, patients will continue to have access to their usual primary care services plus expanded offerings including extended operating hours, additional primary care physicians social workers, psychiatrists and on-site blood work."
Montefiore says all three of Dreiser Loop's physicians have been relocated to other primary care practices.
A spokesperson adds that the medical center is working with patients to secure appointments with their preferred physicians. They promise a seamless transition with no disruptions.
