Remembering Junior 1 year after the Belmont teen’s murder
Thursday marked one year since 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz was brutally killed outside a bodega in Belmont by members of the Trinitarios gang.
Last week, five gang members were convicted of first-degree murder in Junior's stabbing. Eight more defendants are awaiting trial.
Family, friends and community members honored the 15-year-old's memory during a Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Belmont. After the Mass, a candlelight vigil was held at the place he was attacked.

Those who knew him say Junior was full of life and dreamed of becoming a police officer.
Since his death, hundreds of people from his neighborhood and around the world have shown support to Junior's family, including the renaming of 183rd Street to "Lesandro Junior Guzman-Feliz Way."
