A remote technology health care company has a brand-new approach to telehealth that helps improve lives by connecting people with each other.
Emerest Connect has transformed a television studio into an interactive space, aimed at improving the physical and mental health of Bronx residents and their families.
Unlike typical telehealth services, Emerest connects patients, seniors and homebound Bronx residents with each other through live programming broadcasted out of the studio. Patients are able to ask medical experts specific questions on a number of health topics in real time.
Josh Klein, CEO of Emerest Connect, says he’s seen a 25% drop in overall hospitalizations since the start of Emerest Connect.
“We are seeing some positive community buildings, and they are talking to each other on our platform, even when we are not on,” said Klein. “That’s what we really want… not only sitting at a screen but making your time to talk to a group.”
Patient Andre Casiano says this interactive program has helped his physical, emotional, and social health improve after he suffered a debilitating car accident.
“I lost a lot of social skills being locked in the house,” said Casiano. “This gave me an opportunity to get back.”
Emerest also has a dedicated space U@Perks that provides free manicures, pedicures, and other pampering services to local caretakers in the Bronx.
