Mount Hope residents say they are pleased to see that renovations are underway to fix popular stairs in disrepair.

On Sunday the New York City Department of Design and Construction announced their renovation plans to repair the Clifford Place steps.

Residents tell News 12 the steps have been dented and cracked for a long time, making them unsafe.

They say they are pleased that the officials took notice and decided to invest in a community they say is often overlooked.

A temporary metal pathway has been put in place while the steps are closed for construction.
