A vote to expel Rep. George Santos from the House of Representatives is expected to take place Friday at 10:30 a.m.

At least two of his fellow Long Island Republicans say they will vote him out, but representatives from other states are reluctant.

Santos spoke at a news conference in Washington early Thursday.

“Congress is wasting the American people’s time over and over again on something that is the power of the people, not the power of Congress,” said Santos.

Throughout this process, Republicans are trying to navigate an unprecedented potential outcome.

Only five members in the history of the House have been expelled.

“If I am to get expelled, I will be No. 6 and the first Republican and the only one without a conviction or without committing treason,” said Santos.

As News 12 has reported, Santos is facing several federal charges but has not been convicted.

Santos was adamant during his conference and said, “If I leave, they win. This is bullying.”

Some Republicans say they are uncomfortable with the vote, but others say they believe they have enough votes to make it happen.

Santos also announced he will introduce a privileged motion to expel Rep. Jamaal Bowman over a fire alarm incident.

“No one in Congress, or anywhere in America, takes soon-to-be former Congressman George Santos seriously. This is just another meaningless stunt in his long history of cons, antics, and outright fraud," Bowman said in a statement.
