Reports of illegal fireworks up by over 900% across the city ahead of 4th of July celebrations

Police say anyone arrested for trafficking illegal fireworks may also be charged with reckless endangerment.

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, the city says that reports of illegal fireworks have gone up by over 900%. 
The NYPD has already made 33 arrests related to illegal fireworks as of Thursday afternoon. 
Doctors say that although fireworks may be pretty to look at, they are dangerous and should only be operated by professionals. 
Residents in the Bronx tell News 12 they feel as though the fireworks started even earlier this year than they normally do. 
Police say anyone arrested for trafficking illegal fireworks may also be charged with reckless endangerment. 
In New York City, all consumer fireworks are illegal to buy or sell.
