Residents in Baychester say they are concerned about a case of illegal dumping along Edson Avenue and Gunhill Road.
Among the items seen strewn along the area Monday were trash bags, furniture scraps, a TV and a kitchen sink.
A concerned resident, Elizabeth Espada, says they frequently walk along the road and dumping has accumulated over the summer. She says it has only gotten worse.
She tells News 12 she often has avoided the sidewalk and walks in the middle of the road to stay away from the garbage, but she says it can get dangerous due to traffic.
Espada says she suspects that the culprits behind the mess are businesses around the area and that contractors are working on construction nearby.
"You know it's only going to be a matter of time before I'm going to walk over a dead body here because obviously nobody is watching. Nobody cares, nobody is doing anything about it. I walk here with my stepdaughter on a regular basis. She's a young lady, 16-year-old, and the things that I've seen here, she shouldn't be seeing,” said Espada.
Espada tells News 12 she’s reported the issue to the city twice, but that they’ve only come by to pick up some barbed wires.
