Neighbors in Soundview are growing frustrated over the trash left behind in the community park.

Balloons, cups and other trash were left all over Soundview Park. Bags of trash were all left next to the garbage can while the cans were already full of bags.

Residents tell News 12 that those who are making the mess need to clean it up.

"They are making me feel like I should not come here anymore because see all these dirty things," one resident said. "And all the trash that people left behind makes me feel like I'm not going to come here."

A source for the Parks Department tells News 12 that during the pandemic, park usage has gone up while staffing has gone down due to budget cuts.

The Parks Department urges visitors to do what they can and take out what they bring in.
