Revel, the company known for electric mopeds and scooters, say the city is blocking its efforts to tap into the ridesharing industry.
Advocates rallied Monday to demand that the Taxi and Limousine Commission allow more licenses for electric taxis.
During an interview with the WNYC last week, Mayor Bill de Blasio said he’s for electric vehicles but that there’s a reason to put caps on licenses.
“We were seeing a huge problem with that race to the bottom, with too many cars competing for too few passengers, with congestion, et cetera. This is a classic issue,” said de Blasio.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission plans to hold a public hearing on the issue on Tuesday.
