Riverdale Library officials are calling on the city approve funding for much-needed repairs.
Riverdale Library Branch manager Rebecca Brown-Barbier says $2.8 million is needed for a number of repairs including water damage. She says the damage was caused by heavy rains, adding that sometimes the kids room has to be blocked off to cleanup the water.
Library officials also want to use the funds towards making the bathroom accessible to those with disabilities, and to upgrade the heating and AC system.
Brown-Barbier says the conditions in the library have caused programs and classes to be canceled.
Library officials have asked the city for money in the past without success. They are hoping this time will be different.
