"American Ninja Warrior" may have pushed the athletic obstacle course to the forefront, and it is aspiring "ninja warriors" all over the five boroughs. Thankfully, they've got a new home - The Brooklyn Ninja Academy. The new center opened in Gowanus in February.
The Brooklyn Ninja Academy is giving New Yorkers the chance to learn from people who competed on the TV show. The athletes help visitors practice stunts with the goal of introducing the competition to the kids and the young adults as an actual sport.
Owner Madelyn Scarpulla has been operating the New York Ninja Academy in Brooklyn for more than a year. This location has more space and already has some soon-to-be competitors getting stronger thanks to the challenging obstacles.
There are after-school programs for all ages, and kids are broken up according to age. The center also trains teens and adults.
