We’re taking you on a Road Trip Close to Home to one of the only public golf courses in New York City where even a beginner can get a swing in.
Nestled in Pelham Bay Park are two 18-hole courses for the first-timer or the more experienced golfer. Pelham Bay & Split Rock also has a putting and chipping facility for some practice swings before you hit the green. With beautiful views of weeping willow trees and the Metro-North Railroad, the club is a popular location for weddings, birthdays, and other parties.
For younger golfers between the ages of 12 to 16, there are discounted rates and frequent Junior PGA events. In the off-season, there’s still plenty of fun to be had at Pelham Bay & Split Rock thanks to their full-service restaurant and bar plus on-site events like a lobster boil coming up in August.
The club prides itself on making what might seem like a sophisticated sport more accessible. The National Golf Foundation reported in February that golf is becoming more diverse with a record-high number of women and people of color playing in 2024.
