There has been a lot of change this offseason for the Rockland Boulders -- and now the franchise is changing its name.
The organization announced Friday they will change their name to the New York Boulders starting with the 2020 season. The team says the new name better represents their fanbase.

"I think New York is better inclusive, it's all-inclusive. So now we will be able to engage fans in Westchester and Orange and Bergen and the New York metro market," says team president Shawn Riley. "And you can't have a big-time sports league without a New York team. So we want to be that team. We want to be the New York Yankees of the Frontier League."
The news follows an announcement months ago that the Can-Am League would merge with the independent Frontier League. The new league will have 14 teams total, a much larger pool of opponents than the six-team Can-Am League.
