Safety volunteers handed out flyers Saturday in Sunset Park
to offer resources and denounce hate against Asians.
They were joined by the Asian Cop Patrol and the Asian
Community Resource Services while passing out the fliers on 8th Avenue, saying
hate or discrimination on the basis of race, national origin or other
characteristics is not tolerated in New York City.
The goal was to make connections with local businesses while
letting their presence be known.
The NYPD also volunteered during the event. Earlier in the
day, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea says New Yorkers need to continue to step
up and send in any tips of acts of hate as officers are still seeing hate
incidents.
