Bronx residents came out to a Throgs Neck salon on Sunday to help raise money for cancer awareness.
For $40, women got haircuts and also helped out a stylist at the salon.
Liz Rios has been battling breast cancer for the past few years. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in 2014. Rios underwent chemotherapy and surgery that put the cancer into remission, but the cancer returned and Rios now has Stage 4 cancer.
Customers and co-workers helped raise more than $1,000 for the American Cancer Society last year and they were hoping to surpass the amount this year.
Rios says fundraising like this helps her to never give up.
