Brooklyn's borough president and the Sea Gate Police Department joined seniors in Sea Gate to play the non-contact sport known as pickleball.

Following months of being stuck inside the house due to the pandemic, members of a senior community in Sea Gate say the game was a way to exercise while staying socially distant.

The group, which calls themselves the Brooklyn Pickleballers, invited Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and the Sea Gate Police Department to play.

The senior players say that due to their age and underlying conditions, the sport is a good way to stay active.

Adams was honored with a proclamation to thank him for coming out.

The borough president says pickleball is essential for seniors who need to socialize and get out.

While the seniors have found ways to adapt to the pandemic, they say they hope things return to normal.
