Residents and loved ones are still on the hunt for 37-year-old Kianie Cruz, who has been missing for the last 20 days.
Cruz’s family is getting the word out and held a candlelight vigil outside of her home in West Farms, where police say she was last seen.
Yesenia Duprey, Cruz’s sister, says she last knew of Cruz’s location when she was in bed on the night of Sept. 28. On the morning of Sept. 29, she was gone.
Her family says that no one has heard from her, and that investigators cannot tell them what Cruz was last wearing before she went missing. Duprey says the lack of communication is not normal for Cruz.
“We just want to rally the community and try because it’s been 20 days. She could be anywhere,” said Cruz’s cousin Alexis Torres.
The NYPD says Cruz was reported missing on Sept. 28 and that there has been little development in her case over these last nearly three weeks.
“We have a crisis where women of color have gone missing,” said Assembly member Kenny Burgos. “We are stressing. This is a priority… the family has very little information as to where the case is and her whereabouts.”
