Sen. Richard Blumenthal says he's urging federal support for new research into how transmissible the omicron variant actually is.

He says even as it spreads into new states, the strategy for fighting it remains constant. He says vaccination clinics, like one in Westport Saturday, are a crucial part.

"The way to stop this new variant is more vaccinations and this clinic in Westport and all around the state of Connecticut will provide more opportunities for children to be vaccinated and protect all of us," he says.
