Sen. Cory Booker and FBI Director Kash Patel got into a shouting match on Capitol Hill on Tuesday regarding the investigation into the assassination of conservative advocate Charlie Kirk.
A Senate Judiciary Committee was grilling Patel about the ongoing turmoil at the FBI and his handling of the investigation into Kirk’s murder.
Patel defended his leadership, saying he was trying to restore the public’s trust in the FBI. But things got really heated during Booker’s questioning, with the two men talking over each other.
“I follow you on your social media posts that tear this country apart,” Booker shouted at Patel.
“You are an embarrassment to the division in this country,” Patel responded.
This was just one of a few shouting matches Patel got into during the hearing with panel Democrats.
Utah officials have formally charged Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Kirk. Robinson was charged with capital murder and could face the death penalty. He was ordered to remain in custody without bail.
