The New York Pacemakers is a dance team made up of seniors who have found a unique way of celebrating one of their teammates who is recovering from COVID-19.
In their new music video, the pacemakers are showing how they can knock out the pandemic.
“It’s the ultimate definition of joy. Contagious in a good way,” says Pacemakers founder Susan Avery.
The group is made up of seniors from the tri-state area who share a passion for dance.
Despite the lockdown, the Pacemaker dancers continue to prepare for their eventual performances.

"We're having meetings and rehearsals on Zoom, it's so delightful to see our older members figuring out how to FaceTime or Zoom,” says dancer Barbara Adler.
When one of their members was presumed to have the coronavirus and recovered, they celebrated the best way they know how, by dance.

"We know some people feel sad, and some people aren't well, but using these mediums right now for anyone at any age, but finding it to be a huge comfort,” says Avery.
While the coronavirus lockdown continues, the Pacemakers say they will continue to practice routines so they will be ready when the time comes to perform at MCU Park.
