A serious crash brought all southbound lanes of the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh to a complete stop early this morning.

State police say that at first, five cars collided just north of the Jackson Avenue exit around 6 a.m. Three more cars crashed as a result of the pileup, totaling eight cars.

Police say the initial crash involved only vehicle damage. Minor injuries occurred in the second crash.

News 12 camera captured five vehicles being towed from the scene. Cars were not moving past the scene, and the backup extended far beyond the Ardsley Road overpass, where drivers were seen out of their vehicles while traffic remained stopped.

Crews cleared the crash around 7:30 a.m., and all lanes have since reopened.
