Hundreds of mourners attended a service Wednesday evening for a livery cab driver who was shot and killed this week in Belmont.
Police said they found Mamadou Barry dead in his green Lincoln Town Car on Beaumont Avenue early Monday morning. They say the 39-year-old was shot in the head by his passenger, and then crashed into a hair salon.
The mourners packed into the mosque on Third Avenue, where they passed around donation bags and said prayers for Barry and his family. Many of them said that even though they did not personally know Barry, it was their faith that brought them together.
On Wednesday, police sources told News 12 that a person of interest was being questioned in connection with Barry's death. There was no word on whether that person was charged.
Barry is survived by his wife and three children.
